Shooting

On the 14th of November we began shooting the scenes of the video at Zamárdi, by the lake Balaton. We had problems with the weather - again. We were waiting for the sun to come out behind the clouds and we even caught some beautiful, colourful videos but after a while we had to give up waiting for a better weather. We should somehow find a solution to make the colour, saturation of the videos look similar and I hope we can do manage to do it.

The actors were performing really well but I am not sure whether it is ok if we have only a monologue instead of conversations.

9th class

During our 9th class we had a chance to work on our projects on our outside the school. I am in a group together with Dávid Németh, and he came up with a really good idea for our video and began working out the script for it too.

The basic idea was that a man looses his belowed wife and unfortunately by the time he falls in love again he is dying from a poision (he decided to take for ending his own life and the suffering). I've been thinking about how the video would look like if the man had the characteristics of the "Godfather" or any kind of maffia guy. It could have look pretty cool, however I realized soon that it would not be easy to carry out. The main character was played by Dávid's younger brother and if it would be a maffia type guy, than he should have been definitely older.

Anyway we planned that we are going to shoot the video as soon as possible to have enough time for the cutting. Unfortunately the weather on the 8th of November was not good for the video and we had to postpone the shooting.

10th class

During our 10th class we discussed several terms which are important if we want to understand the functioning of the video production's basics.

I have better understood scripts and synopsis as well as outlines and storyboards, the possible camera moves. However the most useful lesson for me was to see what a difference lights can mean in case of a video. Through the use light coming from different angles we can influence the message of movies, let it be a high school movie, a horror/thriller movie or e.g. a film noir.

By using the lights ourselves we have collected some amount of experience how light can even change someone's appearance, make him/her look scary or even more pretty.

8th class

The videos we watched during our 8th class were very useful for our next video, but I need to watch more conversations in movies in order to understand how we should shot it
I think it's much more easier to watch them than to shot it yourself.
It is not easy to find out a story and at the same time find characters that fit into it.
Although now we have a little experience with videos, I think shooting this one will be much more difficult - because the story has to be exciting and we should record the voice in a good quality.

7th class

Unfortunately we realized, that our video was not long enough, so we decided to make a new one. We met and had some new ideas, which were better than the first one.
We shot on the next Friday in the Bory Castle, and it worked out pretty well.
The castle was a perfect spot for the video. The shots were long enough and everything clicked. Or at least we believed so.
On Saturday and Sunday we edited the video, but unfortunately the time was not long enough, and working with the software seriously for the first time was not the easiest. We could not find the music on the flash drive Lili chose for the video.
But anyway we made it and in the 7th class we watched it together with the other group's videos.
It was useful to see our errors. There were too long shots, that would have required to be cut, and I think we should have put more action into the video. Although this was our first try, and anyway I liked the result.

6th class

During our 6th class I began discussing with Lili the possible locations and actors for our video.
I have to say that it was not easy to work this out.
With the location there was no problem, we selected the ground floor of the school, which was a really good place for our planned scary video.
On Saturday we started shooting, and we shot the video in about 2-3 hours. We tried to follow the story board but we had to realize, that some things just could not be carried out.
So sometimes we had to find new solutions.
One big mistake was, that we did not check how long the scenes are, or how much material we have.

5th class

For the 5th video production class I drew a storyboard, which was supposed to be the basis of our music video, but I think we should make it more scary, with different angles and lightning.

We did not begin the shooting yet, only looked at the place where we would like to shoot the whole video. We have one "actress" already, but we still need someone else - playing the cleaning lady. I think we should make her figure blurry somehow and achieve a mysterious and frightening shape.

If everything will work out well, we are going to shoot on Saturday and we plan to finish it on this day. So the next week we "only" have to cut it, plus add the necessary special effects to make the whole video more frightening.

4th class

For our 4th class Lili and I have worked out 2 plans for the music video, which were quite different and it was not an easy task to choose between them.

In our assignemnt (shooting a short video) I started to work in a group with Ádám and Gergő, but it turned out that there is not enough task for everyone. So I decided to shoot a video on my own. The purpose of this task was to create matching videos - concentrating on the cuts. It was pretty difficult for me to do it alone (the battery of the camera died, and then to shoot with the camera while helping the pieces of paper - which were supposed to fall down from the table - actually begin to slip from the surface of the table. I think it is difficult to do it without help, so I asked a student from the school to help me.

Acutally the camera recorded the video in a wider angle, than I could see it on its screen, so by the time I wanted to match the scenes it caused some problems for me, but in the end I could manage this difficulty and my first individual video has been born.

3rd class

In our third class we learned some useful expressions and ways regarding the shoot of a video, which was interesting for me. I learned a lot of new things.
Besides this we had an opportunity to check on the videos we made last week.
It was a good thing to do it together, because in this way we could see each others errors and learn from them.
We have also seen possible solutions for the same task, and it was also very useful. I could get new ideas.

For October the 19th we have to be ready with our first video, which is a big task. The first step is to get an idea about the content/story of the video, and my group (Lili and me) is working on this right now. I hope it will work out well.

Second class

In our second class we shooted a short video according to a script.
The theme of the video was: a bench love scene, and however it seemed to be easy to do, actually it was much more difficult for me than I have imagined it to be.

We worked in groups, each group consisted of 3 people, and it was according to my opinion ideal, because so we could share the tasks.
I have learned a lot of things, e. g. the importance of timing, the right angle in a video, how it is different shooting a video inside or outside of a building.

Shooting the video was very interesting, but I know that the post-production phase is going to be a big work too, and I'm looking forward it very much.

1st class

In our first class we defined the purpose and aim of the video production class. We have seen a video, which was the work of one student from the previous class.
We also took a look on the video cameras we are going to work with, which was an exciting task, because although I have made some videos, there was no knowledge behind it, and I' m looking forward making several new videos, which are worth watching.
